umm how about the old boring cyclone/typhoon engine swap? or the 305/350 swap. no fab needed, all parts for the conversion are readily available. I know it's not as cool, but it works

I guess I was thinking I could get to know the 20B while making the truck a monster.. Plus, that chassis is so straightforward if I can work out the driveline issues the rest should be no problem. It's a pretty basic vehicle.

with the cost of the 20b and labor involved, why not at least do it to your FD?

Isnt it nice having a good daily driver to fall back ?

were you going to rebuild the 20b, run it stock, or modify it?

I think your truck is a bit much for that 20b to push and the outcome may be more trouble then its worth, plus the expense.

why not try to use the 20b automatic tranny and see if that will work in your truck?

there was no reason to get nasty about it

Well, Grant from Grannsyspeedshop.com had this to share:

I suggest adapting the Olds transmission using a custom flex plate and a

block plate/adapter to mount a starter from the front.

Use the smallest diameter ring gear that is practical as the cranking speed

needs to be pretty fast to ensure enough compression to light off the rotary

reliably.

Use the Allison trans., I think the engine would pop before that tranny would, or you could drop a line to those A-holes at Acosta, they had a 20b in an S-10 Blazer, I think.

...with that suggestion made... I think you're nuts, just try to keep it in a straight line, I would hate to see pics of a project like that on it's roof.

I still say give the automatic tranny that comes with the 20B a shot

why would you put a 20b into a olds bravada.

Really take a step back and look at what you are talking about...Buy a NA FC or something and drop the motor in. That truck wasnt ment to have 700hp and i bet it would just be a chore to try and drive it hard...

Umm.. I guess the point is not to have a super high horsepower 20B, but to put together a truck that people see on the road and say, 'yeah, so what.' But when it's in the show, they say, "Holy Hell!"
