It's probably going to be really expensive cause you'll have to make some sort of custom tranny setup if you put the engine in the rear like the original MR2 engine. You could try puting it in the front, but that could be a wiring nightmare. The original MR2 engine has the potential of producing some great power numbers, so why do a swap?

Yup it would cost you alot of money.A MR2 is mid engine rear wheel drive car.Its hard enough to even drive a MR2 Turbo as it is let alone the power of a 20B behind it.MR2s have a cooling problem so that wouldnt be good for the RX7 motor cause they tend to give out alot of heat.Yes you could get the Toms Air Scoops but still the engine's in the back and there's not enough ventallation.Thats a great idea let me know if it comes through.God better be on your side.

dude...epion....its a hassle and a half....i was thinking of it when i had my mr2....but i decided putting a RWD engine into a mid engine car is a PITA therefore i stopped there
fitament shouldnt be too hard.....its small motors should swap easily...but the major and only real problem , as well as the limiting factor, is that the mr2 motor and tranny are for a FWD setup....they are just mounted backwards, giving it a RWD setup...while a rotary engine is RWD setup, coupled with a RWD tranny and driveshaft...ur main problem is getting the tranmission....i never wanted to undertake that challenge
and i please urge you (anyone reading this = you), to know what the **** you are talking about before posting online and spreading misinformation....
specifically 4rr :
mr2 has no problem whatsoever with cooling and heat....and toms air scoops do nothing at all except look goofy
the fact that is MR setup doesnt mean it cant cool well...i bet you dont even know the direction of the cooling air pathway....and what do you mean about its hard to drive....i bet youve never even driven one...its easy to drive, like any other car

yeah, now that I think about it the original motor is wonderfull.. although ti would be alwsome to have a rotary mr2 ... balanced like a god due to middle mounting of the motor, light and small.. I cant deside between getting and mr2 and a rx7 3rd gen

dude i had a 1991 mr2 turbo for a year....please do not tell me anything about that car i know 100 fold more than you

toms air scoop was originally a cold air box intake system, where the scoop was directly mounted onto a tunnel suction that went into an intake box , feeding a filter
they "looked cool" and people started making them for the looks wihtout the rest of the box....rendering the scoop useless but.. "pretty"
anyways.....it doenst do anything, i once had none, then one on the left side, then another on the pass side, then i sold them cause they didnt do anything.....
the direction of the air path for the mr2 is through the bottom of the car, up through the eninge and out through the engine lid.....yet even with this people would think that the air would travel out of the scoop, it doesnt really at all, there is so little space for air to get under and out if you look at the design of the bay without the side pieces on....
the idea of a toms scoop was for the intent of drawing air inwards which it does very well, into the intake.....how do you think you would be able to vent out hot air with a tunnel that is bringing outside air into it.... ...... so you think that it now is bringing cold air to the engine.....but its going against the airflow pathway from under and up.....mixing together in the tunnel and doing nothing
