Has anyone heard of a 13b powered miata? i plan on making on and was wondering if you guys knew the difficulty of the swap. what is needed?
We built one here. The FC turbo bellhousing bolted on the MX5 (Miata) gearbox with no mods! We left the box mount where it was. When the motor was placed in the car there is a kink in the chassis rail pressing that allows it to clear the compressor cover. I reckon Mazda had 13Bt Mx5 'mules' from the beginning!
i know mazda north america built one or two. if i had the room to park it.....

Does anyone have pictures of how this was done? I've always read that the car had to be chopped up a lot to cram the 13B in there.

AMEN to that...

And Carbs SUCK. EFI rules. Webers are cool looking and sound great, but everything I read says driveablity sucks. The Problem is the Mazda wants a lot of fuel which requires some pretty big webers (48 or 51 mm), so upper end is good, but the bottem end suffers.

You can change out the front bell housing on the tranny and bolt up an NA motor. Get the 85 front cover so you can mount it in the front. This will get you the basics.

Or mazsport.net sells a kit to go turboII complete drive train swap. Mine makes 300WHP at 12psi. and I drive it every day to work. This way I show up to work every day with a smile on my face.
