I have an 88 zuk and can get ahold of a 89 RX-7 with a 13B(right?) and am wanting to put it into my samurai. I was wondering if any body here knows of a writeup? I was also wondering what adapters there are, I am keeping the 4wd no matter what because I am building this into a rock crawler, I was hoping that there was an adapter to mate the rotory to a toyota tranny because I am useing toyota dual transfercases and I would like to if I could not use a divorced setup because it would end up pretty long in a little sami, Iwas also wondering how complicated the wiring would be for this motor? (the samurai has pretty much bare minimum even with the little computer.

Thanks

Out of blind curiousity, why are you doing a rotary swap into a rock crawler? If you were setting up for mud and mud trail I could understand the advantages of a torque that took over at high rev, but for rock crawling why not go with a 4G63? I know a couple of guys up here with those swapped into a Jeep and a Mighty Max and they are hella cool trucks for crawling because they have enough torque to get going and then the turbo takes over for the rest of the top end work.

Samurais weigh nothing, and with the low gearing you'll have, you'll have plenty of torque with the 13B. Lots more than the original engine anyway . . . dac converted to 2wd, unfortunately. There's a rotary rock buggy in the latest RX Tuner magazine that should give you some ideas.

This is a cool page but it entails a 12A and not a 13b.

I too think that the rotary wouldn't be the best choice when you want down low torque. Sure the low gearing will help, but the rotary is inherently lacking torque.

Like DJ rotor said samurais wiegh nothing, like 2100 stock, and Im sure that it has way more low end torque then the stock motor just read that write up on Izook, besides who needs torque when your gear ratio is 223:1?
