As you probably know Mazda made a 12A Turbo for the 1st gen RX-7 over in Japan, that being the reason they call the 2nd gen a Turbo II, blah blah.

What I wanna know is have any of you picked up a Jspec 12A turbo and put it in one of the 1st gens over here?

You could always just try to make your own "kit." I think that Racing Beat has some 12A low compression rotors, and they sell a 12A header flange that could be used to make a turbo manifold.

A Jspec 12A turbo motor would probably be hard to come by. I've seen quite a few people drop TII and 13B REW motors into 1st gen's.

I've also looked around for 12AT engines (not real hard), and have not found any. Every once in a while on Thepartstrader.com someone will be selling a 12A turbo setup, but I imagine it is a custom job.

Last I looked Racing Beat had 12A turbo rotors for sale in the bargain section on their site for 450.00.

I saw a few of them for sale but I can't think of where. Otherwise yeah, I'd not mess with a 12A and just drop a 13B into the 1st gen, fight with all the fun little issues that come up and have a nice fast 1st gen.

I was thinking that it'd be pretting intresting to have one if nothing else.

Hey Rotordragon, man a few guys in our club have done that swap into gen ones[and also into a '69 R100!- which runs flat 12's in street trim] with much success. Even in their stock form they are quite quick. But like you said, just as easy to drop a 13B in. Done that in my gen one, nice and easy Hp upgrade. I've added a larger exhaust system and a few carb mods and I'm still at about half the price of a 12A turbo conversion.
