well i think the problem if you tune by the commander is you can't change the Base value "R" with the datalogit you can change the base value and see it in real time..... no more guessing. that must be why people like the datalogit so much

fact of the matter a negative there is BAD.... lol

is the PFC acurate enough to NOT fire the trailing before the leading in the case of all the 0 splits? just wondering. i am not familiar with the pfc... but from what i can make out, it looks as if the split actualy increases in the higher rpm/boost ranges. (if that is what they are). my question... in those areas, do you think it may be wiser to actualy decrease the split to make up for the higer speed of the motor? in some instances it looks as if the split is 15* after. the way i have mine set up in the haltech is that the split actualy is lower at the higher boost levels... lets debate the split a little bit here.
well i played with the split on my gsl-se last weekend.

so base timing 5l and 20t atdc @idle stock, it drives fine

modded timing #1 0l and 15t atdc @idle, 5 degrees advance, loses low rpm power, gains high rpms, needs more octane, it pings at high load/rpms

#2 5l and 15t atdc @idle, smoother, more low end, runs fine on 87octane now

on the 20b i'm running zero split, and it runs fine

CHECK YOUR MAPS!

This is a screenshot of the Datalogit software. If you notice the tabs accross the top we are in tab IGT which is ignition trailing. Then if you look at the bottom, there is a box you can check that says Display Split. If you notice the box is checked which tell you your looking at the map for timing split.

You basically click that box and it show you the entire split map for the timing.

What your looking at IS the split map so all those numbers represent the actual split.

Hope that helps some of you!!!

According to at least 3 independant sources, the PFC "window" of error is less than other ECUS out there now. Within granularity of 5 I am told. So, what does that mean? Don't be over trusting of the PFC to run under 5 split. This is a nugget. Collect all nuggets an d turn them in for a prize.

I concur with Pluto and don't mean to say the sky is falling. It's just that there is NO excuse for it, is all!

You could get ~1-2% RWHP from going to 4 split to 0 split.

But I don't think that type of gain increase going into the negatives!!!

Another nugget.
