thanx V.

i reall want the tec III because of its wide range of tuning options and parameters, however, i dunno if i can justify the complexity of this unit by installing it on my daily driver. i am thinking about the power fc more and more now, but am recently thinking about the PMS from efi systems. i know that it is a piggy back system, but with the data-acq software that is windows based, you can more finely tune the system than with the hand held controller.

what do you guys think. i mean, i can get a pretty good deal on the pms, and ryan said that he could get me the maps. sooo, i would have a really good start with this unit and the cost owuld be 400~ dollars cheaper than a powerFC, without tuning. is the PFC really THAT much better than the PMS/C what ever you call it......i know the pms is a 16bit unit? and the powerFC is more advanced. but how many more things can the powerFC do than the PMS if anuone knows....

thanks,

louis

the PFS is awesome. the really nice thing about the tec III is it's easy to tune ! how far do you plan on going with your car. that should tell you what kind of ems you need. my FD has a t78, custom everything so it has a haltech E6K. i needed the flexibility to run up to 30psi, run large fuel injections, run a custom ignition yadda yadda. i had a PFC its a good unit as long you have somebody that knows how to tune it !

i do plan on going single w/in a year. i really want a t-04R. i'll have my engine paid off in about 14 months. 10K at pettit hurts the pocket book. 10K doesn't grow on trees here in mississppi.....

but the tecIII scares me as far as the install is concerned. i am pretty knowledgeable with the mechanics of the car and wiring in general, but have never undertaken a task like this....

the $3,000 bill w/o installation also makes me cringe. i think that i will opt for a PFC since there are many out there using it on a single. where as only a year or 2 ago people (dealers) warned of using the PFC with a single, die to the lack of tuning parameters. however, with the advent and release of the datalogit, i think these worries are a thing of the past. and now, the PFC can be tuned to another level.

it is also appearant that it is a decent unit, as major companies like feed and c-west are using it on their street/race cars...

UMM $10K for a pettit engine are you nuts ??

the COMPLETE TEC III is $1800 that includes FULL IGNITION!!! just to let you know. PFC uses stock mazda ignition...... its good but if you want a comparable ignition to what comes built in the TEC III you'd have to spend a $1k

if you whole car is apart the wiring shouldn't take more than a day or two its not THAT hard. to each their own. the PFC is good but if you have nobody to tune it. then you have to pay $400 for a datalogit box and figure it out and hope you don't blow the engine LOL..... just some thoughts

cool. i really want your tec, if it will work??? i just need a month or two to get the money...

well, the 10K was for the rebuild, but i needed new rotors, i upgraded the seals, had the block pinned, new rear mount, cosmo fuel pump, x-treme 6 puck, 8.5# FW, and some other miscellaneous ****. trust me, and i KNOW you KNOW, it all adds up VERY quickly....

but for real, i would buy your tec, if i could talk to someone over the phone regarding the install, and some simple questions that i have as far as the unit is concerned. the crank sensor and that ****.

if you have any info on it or are willing to make a sales pitch over the phone, feel free to call me. 601-540-8116......
