i understand the basic concept that it makes everything adjustable but im askin about putting it in. how hard is it to put in? and how does it eliminate wires? i know no more afm and blah blah stuff like that i jus hear ppl say they dont have an ecu so they bought standalone and poof all there problems gone. jus looking for some clearance, thanks

You should go to standalone EMS if your mods have reached a point that the stock ECU can no longer accommodate them. The installation isn't that difficult if you are comfortable doing wiring, but keep in mind that the most important part of going with a standalone is tuning. Make sure you have access to someone with experience with the standalone you select. If you plan on doing the tuning yourself, make sure you have a wideband O2 sensor and a lot of time for "trial and error." And know that a heavy foot and "error" can make for a blown engine.



Not sure exactly how to interpret your post, but don't install a standalone just because you have driveability problems. Find and fix the cause(s) first.

i guess basically what im askin is does whatever company that makes the ecu, make there own wiring harness to fit in and does it replace the harness with all the sensors and the ecu and leave the underdash? i guess thats a more appropriate question. and im sure it varies from company to company. soif u bought a motor with NO wiring harness could this do the whole job (depending where it came from) or would u still need some of the old one

I know the Haltech is available with a flying lead kit, which should give you everything you need to make the engine run. I'll admit I took the easy way out here and bought an adapter from K2RD that plugged right into the stock harness. All I had to do was install a few new sensors under the hood.
