there is a reason mazda only put the knock sensor on the front housing (even though the rear rotor are the one commonly detonates), because a lot of time the transmission noise or drive train movment can be mistaken as a knock. Also, due to the poor combustion characteristic on the rotary, sometimes on deceleration or partial throttle the knock sensor will pick up signal that are not actually accurate. Best way is to listen with your ear and use a stethoscope that might help too.

I am going to be putting a J&S on my FD and I have PFC. From what I have read PFC only reads Knock, it does not retart the timing if it senses knock. Is anyone out there running PFC with a J&S?

the j&s can only retard leading timing, so you have to be careful it cant pull the leading back so it fires after the trailing, this is bad

I am currently trying to get information on Japanese knock meters that the big tuners in Japan use. The company is called Integraal and they have some really nice meters, basically the same design as the MSD just a little larger by the looks of it. The website says they can make one for the 13b so more info to come when I get it

1. sounds like popcorn! all those explosions sounds like metal popcorns....

2. won't work. injector pulses and oil slushes will freak the knock sensor out.

Are knock meters universal? I have a friend who imports stuff from japan who doesnt charge too much.He says the integral knock meter will cost be between $300-500 cdn,he is asking the company in japan if there is s specific wiring harness/application specific for the fc3s or if they can make one.I need to make my next shipment from japan by end of this month and may also will get the power fc, which i know has knock meter but i think a stand alone knock meter would be nice, especially if i dont have to spend 1300cdn on something like a j&s.

Thanks

Oh n thanks for that link Thecamel, its exactly what i was looking for, something that doesnt **** with the timing like j&s.
