What do you guys think about this EMS. I was thinking about running a microtech or haltech (leaning more on microtech) but i heard the HKS system was supposed to be good. It seems a little pricey though. Just wondering how it performs. I would also like to know if the Microtech can be tuned while running the car from a laptop like the E6K can. Thats one of the points i like most.

If your looking to tune it once and leave it the HKS units are fine, if you want to tinker with settings at al, forget the HKS unit. Nobody can get the data access cable for them, nor the software other than a HKS dealer. Especially the F-Con V or F-Con V pro. For the cost of the unit in the US, there are better systems out there.

The F-con S seems to be a pretty good unit. Especially if HKS will release or did release their commander.. Also its cheaper then the PFC

What I was trying to say is that there are better standalones out there for the price of the F-CON. The F-CON is acctually quite popular in japan for minor upgrades and even full tuned cars. But in Japan finding a qualified F-Con tuner is about as hard as getting a georgia coffee. There is a tuning shop ussually reasonably close that has the software and cable to tune it. In the U.S. its quite different. There are a lot of F-Cons showing up on the market now because of all the new self tuning stand alones on the market today. The biggest problem with buying a used F-Con is not knowing what the thing was tuned for originally. You may get one that was for a FC, but is tuned for a TDO6-19C turbo and fully tuned for that car only. Plug it in and your stock turbo just is not putting the same air into the car, and the octane rating is not the same with U.S. gas, so timing is also the issue. For the money spent on getting the F-Con on auction, getting it tuned and then getting an itch to upgrade something you could have bought a Haltech, EMS or possibly an Electromotive TEC system (used) that does the same thing, but has the ability to be tuned by yourself.

well u can find a used one for about 300 on ebay all the time with the harness for an FC all the time. you can buy the Graphic control computer at HKS USA as well as the different ROM for your car for like 65-100 at www.hksusa.com for it. yet i have yet to find a used haltech on ebay, they only have new ones
