What is the difference between a series 5 convertible ecu and a non conv. NA ecu? Can they be interchanged?

According to the shop manual there's no difference. All of the connections, sensors, and testing procedures are the same. The convertible ECU may have slightly more aggressive timing and/or fuel maps to compensate for the extra weight.
