Right after my 91 vert's ECU went for a swim (water on the passenger's floor) I started having problems. Not a mechanic, but my keen powers of observation and advanced study of cause & effect relationships suggests I need another ECU!

Please consider providing me with my daily affirmation and/or a source for a stock ECU if you could be so kind!

With water about 3 inches deep on the passenger's floor after the car had sat for about 4 weeks late last Fall (leaves in the drain holes), I started the 7 with no problems but chose to drive off without dealing with the water. Bad decision!

I drove about a mile until the engine started stalling. Was able to limp back home, gliding to a stop! Started the engine again only after using the unflooding procedure. It would idle rough at 3000 rpms and drop rapidly with a click to about 500 periodically. It stalled and I haven't started it since.

Spring is the best time of the year for the 7 convertible. The tow sticker just placed on the car has provided additional motivation to get it started! I was driving to get emission tested last Fall when I started having the problem/s and now have an expired plate!

Thanks for your response and any assistance you are able & choose to provide!

Have you checked for any codes from the ECU? The procedure is at http://www.johnr.com/cpucodes.html .

Thanks for the link.

I had previously tried to retrieve the codes but was unable to. I think a prior unresolved issue (I am guessing electrical) is keeping me from the codes. When I turn the key, all my warning lights go on along with a loud buzz!

I was getting "buzzed" months before the great flood.

I forgot to mention that prior to my current problem, the check engine light and the buzz were not going out until the car would start (& I let go of the key) or until I would turn the key back to the "off" position.
