I have a 87 Turbo II with a street ported motor.

I was looking for some feed back from the forum on aftermarket (piggy-back) cpu's, that will allow me to adjust the mixture a little to compensate for my porting.

I know heltach is great, but I want to keep things as simple as possible and avoid rewiring everything. That's why I'm asking your option on piggy-back type units like HKS's F-con. Tell me what you think. Your experience with different units. Greddy, Thrust, HKS etc. Pro/cons. Which works the best and why. Bang for the buck?

Thanks

tell you the truth, IMO, going standalone in the long run is simpler.

Come on guy's I hear you all mention tunning your motors using various add-on computer systems. Some of you most have an option on what works best.

(I ask because I'm a motor guy-- cpu's is not my area of expertise). Thanks

Are you going to keep everything else stock but the engine?

IF you are on the way to be upgrading everything slowing. It is better to go stand alone from the start. The SAFC can only be use to a certain extend, on fuel only and limited. IF you go with FCON then you have to check with HKS if you can used the standard chip with a ported engine or use the chip for the the upgraded turbo, again, fuel only. If you are going to keep upgradign stuff that need the fuel curve alter then you'll have to get a new chip made or get another addition to the system, (which can help you tune again but can't remember the name of the unit that is used with the FCON).

For the price of this band-aids now, you can get a nice microtech system or even a used haltech e6k system.

How wild are you going to go?

Thanks for the feed back turbo.

I would say that I'm pretty happy with what I have power-wise right now. Considering I'm a autocross racer and don't need crazy horsepower to win races. I have more than enough now. I'm more concerned with reliability/versatility than anything else. I guess what I'm trying to say is that why'll it would be nice to have some flexibility for future mods, it's not a priority right now. I would just like to ensure proper air/fuel mixture for the porting/intake/exhaust that I've already done.

Well i think getting some bigger secondaries, walbro fuel pump, 2 1/2 dp. and a SAFC will do just fine. I think they have a new SAFC in the market. Get it tune and you are set. Thats' my opinion.
