Well i finally got a chance to take my r-1 to the track.. my only mods as of now (installed) downpipe, greddy sp cat back. This was my 2nd and best run.. after this they told me to get a helmet or leave.. stupid Houston Raceway Park...
R/T......... .935 60'......... 2.008 330........ 5.633 1/8......... 8.656 MPH....... 81.89 1000...... 11.220 1/4......... 13.399 MPH........ 101.92 I launched at about 2500rpms with 26.5psi in the rear tires... got no wheelspin or wheel hop on the launch.. but took it easy shifting.. and let off just b4 the traps, this was done at about 6:30pm central time at a temp of about 75 degrees or so, after driving 50 miles to the track... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |
what you guys think? seem about right or should i be running faster or slower? i shifted at about 7800rpms and the run was done on stock boost.
i'd say thats damn good https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

i can tell you let off!
13.3 @ 101 MPH! my old TII ran 13.7 @ 101.5 MPH LOL you have a mid 12 second car. get some drag radials and have some fun https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
mid 12s... no way.. my car i freakin stock!!! hahaha i did this run on 225/50R16 tires.. one yokohama S302, one A540.. both crappy tires... i want drag radials but i dont wanna break anything https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...closedeyes.gif
My first time to the track yeilded a 13.3@109mph but my 60' were crap. Those are pretty damn good times for a more or less stock FD. Is the motor ported? I would go buy a helmet and see if you can break into the 12's with a DP and CB. That would be impressive. Get some Drag Radials on and lower that 60' down another .2 or so and you could run a mid 12. Nice Pass.
Good times man. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif
nope.. the motor was rebuilt.. but nothing was done to it... just a stock rebuild. I think imma buy some nitto nt555R's.. and hope i dont break anything! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png
You won't....I have run the 555R's for almost a year now with no problems. As long as you don't wheel hop bad you will be fine....drag radials seem to break differentials more while drag racing while ET streets seem to snap axles. That is what I have noticed at least. I love my Nitto's too bad they don't make the 225-50-16 size anymore. Now noone does, that I am aware of.
the one time i used nittos. i snapped an axle like a twig. i also did a monster burnout and dropped the clutch at 8500rpm https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Helmet? Hmmmm..... They never told me anything when I went. Those are very good times though!!
Yea they got rules for safety items as your time gets lower. break into the 13s and you have to wear a helmet.... never gotten past the 13s (hopefully this weekend, if I can afford to even go) so don't know the rest of 'em. I never actually wear the helmet though.. I just keep it in the car.
Matter of fact last time I went I didn't bring mine... so some chick in a 13 sec M3 Roadster let me borrow hers...needless to say her head was way smaller than mine. She was cool as hell though. |
what about yokohama A032R's? i know they are meant for auto-x n stuff.. but can they offer anything for drag racing?
you can use them for drag racing but a drag radial is much better
im scared to break something https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif whats the best way to warm them up correctly, and what psi should be in them?
you don't HAVE to warm them up. i am beginning to advise slipping the clutch..... so that you don't break anything. unfortunately i have to do the same if i expect to drive to and from the track
Yea, that's one thing that scares me too.. breaking something.. like an axle.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png but if you just start slipping the clutch instead of dropping the clutch, there will be more wear on your clutch.. espically if you have an OEM clutch. right?
your gonna burn up the clutch but you can still drive home on a burned clutch https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
hehe.. i dont want any broken or burned parts period! guess ill have to stay off the track :(
if you do it three times it won't kill the clutch https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR
do what 3 times... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png
if you slip the clutch it won't kill it for a long time
in that case.. i need to learn to slip the clutch.. im used to just dumping it around 2500-3500 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png
3 times every time you go to the track or 3 times ever? oops.. that's why the clutch went out in my FC.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png What's the best clutch to use in an FD that's going to see mainly moderate to hard daily driving with some dragging?
act street/strip
act street/strip |
i'd say if you drag race alot you will need to change the disk every year or two
The times are good but you can do better. Lower your RT a bit and your 60 and you'll do 12's in no time without having to break into drags radials. Braking **** is my only worry when drag racing because I also dump the clutch, I know how to slip it and everything, but still I dump sub-consiously. Braking **** is a real bitch. LOL

I use an ACT also- BTW if you need a helmet, I have two spares. PM me if you're interested.
the r/t doesnt matter, the clock dont tick still you get past the staging lights.. its purely for getting times, i only launched cause i was racing a friend.. hehe... i think we were running on a "pro-light" where its just, red and then green..
RT has no bearing on your time. it will affect whether you win or lose the race though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
i nailed a .500 RT in my TII once https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |

A few times, not nearly as many as you must have. Why?
