Danno - try PepBoys .. you'd be surprised at what you can find there sometimes. Heck, they even had water wetter!

As for filling the tranny... man, what a hassle. So apparently there are TWO square-ended plugs??? My top plug (the fill plug) had a torx depression in it. Man, that was a PITA to get out. From the angle I was looking at it, it looked like a mangled up 3/8ths square depression (just like on my mustang). There were bits of metal pulled up from the previous tranny fluid change.

Two strange things - thinking I could fill the tranny via the shifter, I pulled the shifter and noticed a pool of fluid in there. Should this area be filled with fluid?? I tried sopping out as much as I could and used synthetic grease on the fulcrum and end.

The other strange thing was that when I pulled out the upper drain plug I could hear air being sucked in - like there was a vacuum inside. What the heck is up with that? All I did was drain the fluid from the bottom-most plug. Nothing came out of the upper drain plug - so what's it used for???

Hmm... I just read on the mazdatrix site that you WANT to have gear lube/oil in the shifter base... fill it up to just above the lower ball...

I was talking about the tranny, you are right about the shifter base.

You don't have to touch the torx bolt. The fill hole has a square bolt. Just use the proper size open ended wrench on it. The drain bolt is the big one pointing down. Its a big socket, maybe like 24mm.

Uuuhm... according to the service manual I have (off the net) it says there are 3 plugs. The lower, middle, and upper. The uppermost is the fill hole. The middle and lowest are drain holes.

Holy crap.. plug "B", the middle plug looks lower than the one I pulled... did I pull the wrong plug(s)???? The tranny seems to be shifting fine, no grinding or anything like that.
