Hey, I just got my 3G RX7 a few days ago. The secondary turbo isnt spooling up so I was thinking bout doing a single upgrade if I couldnt figure out how to get it running again. How does it know when to kick in??? There is a vacuum line that is broken right in front of the throttle body that I am going to replace tomorrow. It kinda curves down and under the throttle body and goes to this long thicker tube lookin thing right along the engine. The engine RPM's also jump, but I am guessing that is cause of this vacuum prob too.

I still have yet to get ALL the info on the car, but I am told that the rebuilt motor is street ported with 2mm apex seals. I was just wondering what the best way would be to go performance wise. I currently have about $6K to spend on the car, and have a friend who can get discounts on MANY parts (so I am told). I have thought bout the Turbonetics T66 single upgrade, but dont know too much bout turbos yet (was a supercharger guy before) so I dont know which companies might be best. Where is a good place to get a complete kit with basically everything I would need. I plan on upgrading the wastegate and all that too.

Whatever help you give me would be appreciated. I tried to find some of this info in the archives, but didnt really find anything that helped me. My ultimate goal is to get mid 11's.

Thanks again for your help,

Ben

Ok, something I forgot too. IF I DO get both turbos working again, is there a way to make them so that they are not squential and both would be running full all the time???? I think that someone told me that it wouldnt be that hard to do, but then again they didnt know too much bout rotarys.

With $6k you are close to being able to get a stage 5 upgrade. That will add your single turbo, as well as many other upgrades, and you ride would be a blur. 470 rwhp. Zoom zoom!

you can wire both turbos to run all the time pretty easy. do a search for "poor mans non sequential" it takes about 1 hour, and it will also tell you why your second turbo doesn't work

I tried the search, but when I typed that in only this topic came up. I tried multiple different things too to try and get it to come up, but I couldnt. Could you maybe find me the link, to the topic you are talkin about, or any other place that might tell me how to do this, and why my secondary isnt working????

I REALLY want to get this fixed, and so I need to find this topic, if you could help out that would be great.

Ok, to add a few things. I did find a site that talked about it after looking for a bit (didnt do a search, just went through the archives) and found this Non-Sequentials .

I also found out and ordered the part that was broken. It was the Solenoid Valve (purge control) , and can be seen in this pic Pic of vacuum hoses . Should this replace my problem???? cause although I found something that tells me how to make it non-sequential, it didnt tell me why my secondary isnt kicking in. I ordered the part from the dealership ($85) and if this isnt it/I can do without then I will prob return it. If you are looking at the pic, the bottom hose connected to it broke and so now that is open.

Hope you can still help me, and sorry for being so ignorant, but I am TRYING to learn,

step one is to look at the front, it has a white dot (i think turbo control in the pic) solenoid on the vaccum rail. the hose pops off of that one, and then you get no second turbo. it is under and behind the pressure tank. if you take the tank off, you should hear air coming out. if it doesnt whoosh at you the check valve could be bad. try those 2 and then we can go on to the next step if it doesn't work

ok, there are two hoses that hook up to the solenoid with the white dot. I also took one of the tubes off of the tank and it did whoosh for a sec. Not for long, but it did let some air out.

So where we go from there???

Angry

Fooled around with it a little bit more, and that only kinda made me mad and happy at the same time. I knew due to the vacuum leak that my rpms would jump at idle while in gear. I afro-engineered that peice I ordered, and now the rpms dont jump BUT I think i actually see a little less boost (but acceleration is a bit smoother).

Now for the mad part. The motor is a fresh street port rebuild (so I am told). But the guy that did the work must be a moron, half the bolts that hold stuff in place are gone. The two that hold the solenoid with the white dot are missing, the one that hold the coolant system with the circular "do not open" cap is gone. There is one down to hold something else on, and I can see the bolt, but it isnt on the nut. I have a 12 month 12K mile warranty, but dont know if I trust this guy to do anymore work. Right before I bought the car I knew the turbo wasnt working, but the rebuild guy was working on it and said he couldnt figure it out (I just think he didnt want to work).

Sorry to rant and rave, not really that mad cause I bought the car to dig into and make fast.

When I did take the tube off of that box though, it wasnt a constant whoosh, it was just a relief of pressure. I really hope you can help, and my service manuals should be here soon so I can make sure all my hoses goto the right spots (there were like 3 undone when i got the car and still trying to make sure they are in the right spots).

Thanx,

Ben
