The 99specs spool really quick so turbo lag really is minimal. Like everyone else, I really think the car should have come this way.

Anyway, I think my hi-flow cat has nothing left to it because, despite having the vent values turned all the way up, and I am still spiking boost really badly. Will a manual boost controller cure my car of this problem once and for all? Are there any negatives to having the manual boost controller installed?

THANKS!

Oh, would it be a good idea to install another hi-flow cat for a little back pressure? Oh, another thing...I failed emissions this weekend! No biggie, a waiver's coming my way.

No harm with it. What type of ECU are you running?

You think that will solve my boost spike problem? I was thinking about doing a manual boost controller but now I'm thinking I might go ahead and get an electronic one if they work better...

You can buy a Profec B George if you want but its more controller than you need. I used to have one and it is nice.

I currently use the turbo smart one I mentioned to you.

Its about $89

Profec B is about $350

The turbosmart manual gated boost controlled will cure your problem 100%

My ports are larger than your PFS ports and I control boost just fine.

Here is the link to buy them.

They have one for $150 that you can put in the car and adjust the boost from your seat.

Dave,

Do manual boost controllers create any excess lag? If the fix is that quick I'm all over it.

Boost controllers do not have anything to do with Lag. That is completely dependent upon the turbo.

I've heard different...

ball and spring manual controllers reduce lag (probably not too noticable), because it's all or nothing when venting??? Only what I've heard.

"despite having the vent values turned all the way up, and I am still spiking boost really badly"

Well that seems to be your problem, the higher the vent value the higher the boost. Turn the vent way down. the purple controls boost just as well as any other electronic controller...as long as you have a cat.
