I understand that if you replace the cat with a mid-pipe, you need to open up the waste gate port to prevent boost creep. First, is this correct and if so, can anyone provide specifications/pictures of the required porting modifications to the waste gate?

Also, can you port the waste gate enough to prevent boost creep while still using the OEM flapper? What is the minimum overlap of the flapper before you get into trouble?

Thanks.

to my understanding you can port up to a 1.24" around the wastegate, however i dont think its needed unless if you are running non sequential.

with a full exhaust.. porting your wastegate will help with boostcreep in either seq or nonseq config...

no need to replace the oe flapper... use it as a template and port close enough to it...

Hey guys, thanks for the input and pic. In browsing the forums, 1/24" keeps coming up as the max dia. AMP, is this the dia shown in this pic. Also, I am guessing since there is a hand grinder in the background that this was hand ground? Was this done with the turbo assembled as shown?

Thanks again guys. Looks like I start today...

ive outlined the diameter of the flapper over the hole...

used that as my guide as the size to which i needed to port close to without compomising the seal...

and youre correct.. die grinder was used to do the porting... although the bur used was not the one on the pic..

used that to finish the port... initial cut was made with a cylindrical bur..
