I've got a bone stock 93 RX-7 and I just got a FMIC, 3" exaust (turbo out), and a Apexi intake. I was woundering if I'm going to have any problems with my engine (boost spike, fuel cut, ect.) by putting these on? If anyone has any thoughts on it let me know.

you might be on the limit of your stock injectors. You might also get boost creep which might lead to fuel cut. i would say a FCD i dont know if fd's use them too but that some larger secondaries and some way to tune maybe a reprogrammed ecu or a SAFC.

Thanks, I'm still in the process of putting my car back together and I don't want to **** it up over something stupid.

Your risking both boost SPIKE (from opening the intake side) and boost CREEP from opening the exhaust side. SPIKE can be handled by a good boost controller, either electric or manual. Not a big deal. CREEP is a different matter. It generally can only be dealt with by porting the wastegate (in these cars the WG is internal and requires removal of the turbos) OR by adding some restriction back in the exhaust, ala hi-flow cat. If your car is bone stock, you must still have the stock ECU, which means you can't just start adding bigger injectors to compensate. You'll need a PFC before doing that. Figure another $800 to $1200 depending on which one you get.

Many also find that with a straight exhaust (midpipe or testpipe) on a streeted car, it will be annoyingly (and illegally) loud. The smell also tends to make eyes water within 30 yards.

Do you have any suggestions on what PFC to get and where to get it, and will my FMIC have any effect on the engine?

I have an APEX'i "PFC". It's the most popular, has the most support and they make a specific version for the North American FD. There are other choices though. Haltec, AEM etc. I bought mine new w/ a new commander from another owner and still learning. I'm not sure where the best place would be to purchase them, maybe others can chime in. Check out the sponsors of this forum and see if they carry them.

I'm not real familiar with FMICs. I've heard they're great for the track, but can make it difficult to control water temps on the street. Any decent aftermarket IC is going to open up the intake side of your motor. Most have far less pressure drop than the OEM unit and be more efficient in cooling the charge. Both conditions will add power, but contribute to risk of boost spiking. You do NOT want to run this car lean. You usually only get to do it once.

Because you have a FMIC I would highly recommend you get a good radiator. I have a Koyo but I many agree Fluidyne is the best. It doesn't matter, as long as it works. It takes a while to get them to fit but your car will thank you. While you are at it call Pettit and order an AST.

One more thing about the APEXi PFC....if you buy one, get one with a serial number that begins with FD3S4. That's the newer version for 92-95 RX7s. There is an older version that apparently is just fine too, but the newer version comes with a better base map. You will also want a commander too.

Ok for now I'm just going to put the Apexi intake on because my stock one was broken in the crash. So I need to get a boost controler and set it at what psi and what else do I need to do for the intake?

What is an AST? I got on Pettit's web site and I counldn't find anything.
