I'm brand new to Mazda, I'm thinking of buying a 1995 rx7 with 66,000 miles on it but I'm worried about repair costs. Was wondering what problems i should be on the lookout for. any advice. Would appreciate any help, I' ve heard there are alot of problems with RX7s , could owners respond.

P.S. I leave in Canada, is it a good idea to drive it in the winter.

Thanks, Upnorth

All sports cars are just about the same. They use more

gas, have more power, cost more, and you get chicks,

what more could you want?!?!? :yum: :yum: :yum:

They are quite costly to maintain. If it is snowing, drive something else. They can be relatively reliable, but it will never be a honda.

Everyone in here owns a rx7 just about. Great car you are about to buy ,but at 60k you should expect that the engines coolant seals will most likely go out soon. Then you will need to rebuild or get a reman. I would suggest that you find someone in your area to look the car over with you or at least point you in the right direction for a good rotary tuner/mechanic. Check this link and read through it extensively.

Best of luck

OH my friend... welcome to Rotary world. Forget everything you think you know. With out getting too into detail, my advice to you is dont buy the car if you can't afford or are not willing to put your heart and soul into the vehicle. Chances are the car you are looking at has been mistreated by some piston owner who bought the car because it looked cool and he knew it would go fast.

The rotary engine in and of it self is a great engine...... when it is N/A. When Mazda turbo charged it 2 times! It put the car in to the sports car class which requires constant maintenace and care. You (well at least I and any other responsible owner must change the oil every 1500 miles not 3K like other engines. I do not care what anyone else says NEVER put synthetic oil in the engine. I will answer this in more detail if you are interested.

as for driving in cold weather...it is good and bad... its better for normal driving conditions than hot weather. But you must watch for Boost spikes in winter.. the air is colder you have better comression...so turn down the boost or you'll blow an apex or some other seal.

If you feel like you can commit to the vehicle and give it the care it needs and deserves then buy it. If you take care of it, it will reward you with years of service and many *** kickings.

You have to have Love for the car and understand that this is a sports car and things will break.

It is not necessary to change your oil that often. 3k is just fine. You can be **** if you like but it won't make a bit of difference.

And synth oil will keep your engine alive longer.. I don't care what you think you know about the rotary engine.

the rotary can be your best friend or your worst enemy. i think if you have the time, money and passion to own one of these cars you will never regret it. i have had some problems with mine but it is worth it once i get to drive it again. i love my car and it loves me

anyone who tells you an rx7 is a great daily driver is a liar. if i could have ONE car, theres no way in hell it would be an rx7. it isn't reliable for ****, ive had tons of problems with mine, and ive only had it for a few months. but this car is so much fun. no one buys a sports car because its reliable and efficient, you buy it because its fun as hell to drive and mess with.

if you're looking for a daily driver, dont bother...if you want to have fun...definately go for an rx7.
