Alright, thanks for telling me that. Can anyone recommend a good drag suspension then? I'm guessing I need something very stiff.
No. With drag racing you want soft. You want weight transfer to the rear wheels once your launch to increase traction.
You are not going to learn enough from surfing around the forums to setup a 200,000 race car. I highly suggest you buy some or all of the following books.
-Entire series of Carroll Smith books (engineer to win, race to win... all of them)
-Race Car Vehicle Dynamics by William Milliken
-Fundamentals of Vehicle Dynamics by Thomas D. Gillespie
-Chassis Engineering/Chassis Design, Building & Tuning for High Performance Handling by Herb Adams
-Tires, Suspension, and Handling, Second Edition [R-168] by John C. Dixon
-Competiton Car Suspension: Design, Construction, Tuning by Allan Staniforth
I have read all of them except for the last one.
You should also get Machinery's Handbook, 27th Edition by Erik Oberg, et al. I have edition 17. There isn't much difference I think between all of them.. except the later ones 22+ cover CNC techniquies i think. I got my for 5 bucks at a used book shop.
Good luck.

Il RX8 lI, let me jump in here before you **** everyone off. I understand that you are really excited about building up a rotor monster. Please keep in mind though that you are not the first one here with those aspirations. Many of the topics that you are going to be interested in have already been discussed more than once here. So before you hit that "new thread" button with a generic question please do some do some research on your own. Formulate your own opinions on parts and processes. Most of the information for you to make a sound decision is already there. You just have to look for it. Also when you repeatitively post new topics with questions that do not really pertain to something you are actually in the process of working on it gets on peoples nerves. While we want you to enjoy participating on nopistons.com please research your questions and don't be so hastey with the new topics. That's nothing more than forum courtesy. When you actually get the car and get started and need honest advice for a problem you might be facing I think the forum members will be more willing to help you out. That being said..
My honest advice for you would be to find something to take to the track and race. Reading about suspension tuning does you little good if you don't get any hands on experience. I think that if you go to the track and start involving yourself with racing BEFORE you start to build the car I think you will get better ideas of what exactly you want to do with the car, what are realistic expectations and what are not.
Can you please clarify what car you are talking about also. You have yet to mention if you even own a 3rd gen.

I'm thinking of interchangable parts as different seasons come and go. Since I'm going 3 rotor, I won't have to worry so much about weight distribution going all upside down on me. So I'll be looking at parts for both drag and circuit/autocross. We'd have a different turbo setup to mount for each and of course everything else to change out for different races. I don't know how different this approach is, but it's one we're a big fan of.
Do you know how much WORK that would be?
People spend years getting the tune down on ONE setup. Pick something and then go from there. You cant have everything....
