Ok...

I put home depot boost controllers in place of both the wastegate and precontrol pills. Took me a while to figure out how to tune them, but I finally got a boost pattern of 10-7-10. Maybe I could fine tune it more, but I am very happy with this result. I think it clearly shows that the car is capable of producing a correct boost pattern, so I don't think there is a leak anywhere. Transition is still late, but I'm going to attribute this to the altitude still, until I find someone else with the same problem. One day I'll drive off this damn hill and test it, but not today. (when I do, I'll try to remember to write something about it here).

So anyway, thanks to all those that stuck with me through this incredible learning experience. I understand my car so much better now. You guys are cool.

Glad to hear you're (finally) at peace with the boost reading. Are you making any predictions of what the boost will read when you come down to the altitude where humans are supposed to live :smirk:

Danny- the Australian package just arrived.

Hehe, I wouldn't dare. Nothing about this car is predictable (except maybe the remarks of people at the gas station: "What kinda car is that?...Mazda???...Is it fast?").

When you do drive off that hill and test your boost pattern carefully watch the boost gauge. When I moved to a lower altitude I was boosting something close to a 9-7-13 before I re-adjusted the bleeder valves.
