REamemiya is exactly like the oe part.. only difference is the height of the shifter column..

roughly shortening the throw only by .375 inches...

REamemiya's definition of short shift is literal..

im looking for a short throw shifter.. not a shorter shifter..

gonna try the mazdatrix as it looks like the shorter throw is achieved through pivot and height..

maybe it was done in that fashion to avoid missed shifts which are already a commodity with the stock shifter?

Just curious....is the threaded portion of the shaft isolated with rubber as the OEM shifter is? IIRC, there was talk that the source of rattling problems in some shifters was often traced to how they just machine the shifter from one solid piece, without the rubber isolation.

I don't care for my short-shifter anymore...it's too darn notchy, makes it hard to shift quickly honestly...well, that and I have a rediculously stiff clutch setup for the lack of mods that I have. :/

Anyone wanna trade + $50 for my short-shifter?

dont think its from bein a solid piece signal..

if it were then its a bit hard to explain why some rattle and some dont..

id say its most likely from the bushing or the collar..

lion.. add some fluid in the case...

Agreed. I don't think it was any ONE thing that led to the rattling problem. That's why I said that it was thought to be the cause on SOME shifters. I'm also in the market and was just curious on how your MAZDATRIX shifter was made. I also considering the MAZDASPEED replica from RX7store too, but it's a bit pricey.

BTW, I noticed that the MAZDATRIX installation vid never mentioned adding grease to the collar bushings and lower pivot. It's often overlooked, but the FSM recommends both of those points should be GREASED before adding the gear oil. That might help LIONHEART'S notchiness too.
