Hey Guysm

I have only had my FD for a few days and I notice a little squeek from the enginebay under light (preboost) acceleration. It can only be heard with the windows down, and it is not coming from the suspesion ie. its not effected by bumps, but it almost sounds like an unseated spring (which I know it isn't).

Anyways hope you can help.

Could be a number of things.

Could be a belt, could be your turbos dying, could be a vacum leak.

Check the Manifold bolts and make sure they are tight. It may have the stock paper gasket and that could be leaking.

Check the belts. Etc...

Dang, I'm getting a similar noise, it sounds like it might be the belts but I don'think so. I know it's not the squeaky hood cause i can hear that too lol. It sounds like a squeaky puttering sounds even at idle it can be heard. Funky huh?

Keep in mind when apexi seals chatter they make a chirping noise that is very similar to belt squeak. If you haven't messed with anything that would affect your Afrs or ignition timing it's probably due to something else. Just wanted to throw that out there to be safe.

What's even funkier is that the sound i heard was on tuesday night. Soon As i started up the car it purred like normal but then a puttering sound started happening like if one of the belts were loose or if there was a squeak in on of the wheels or something. I drove the car around for a while and hit positive boost just to see if it would get worse or better. All I noticed is that coming down from 3k rpms i would hear it and then at idle it can faintly be heard. On tuesday night however, coming down from 3k and going to idle I could hear it pretty loudly to the point that i was kinda embarrased that my FD was sounding like it had a VW bug pre 1960's engine under my hood. I'm gonna have to give this a few more days of listening to since the sound kinda went away. Anyhow just thought I'd share this bit of weirdness. Anyone else heard a wierd sound that persisted for a couple days then went away all the while the car drives great and has plenty of oil and coolant?

Since it's only heard on decel, I'd say it's more likely one of your belts slipping, or a vacuum leak (although that would usually give you idling/drivability issues...). The turbo "death scream/whine" usually occurs under boost.

I have a similar problem occasionally with my alternator drive belt; have to put a light coat of belt dressing to quiet it down.
