maybe you guys can help me out, I have a 94fd auto. bone stock , 54,000 miles on it. it has always smoked on start up (i've had it a year). The smoke seems to be getting worse (it is cold here b/w 20 & 30 degrees) and now it starts off blue for about a minute, then heavy, heavy white for about 5 minutes or more, and turns grayish black for about a minute. The oil is at the fill line (hasn't gone anywhere since last oil change 1000 miles ago). no visible leaks on the ground, coolant is filled. The heat also works sometimes (just blows cold even after warming up for 15 min. or more. I don't know much bout cars and the mechanic said if the smoke goes away don't worry about it, so should I get a second opionion? the guys real cool but I have an extended warrenty that goes out in about 3 months. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks kostya

If you're not losing any oil or coolant then it may be that your car is just running a little richer now that it's cold out. My car smokes alot when it's very cold, but it smells like gasoline. The white smoke may just be from condensation building up inside the exhaust system.

yea as long as theirs no coolant or oil loss it should be fine....never hurts to get coolant system pressure checked to make shure its not a bad seal..

If the smoke is thick and white it could be coolant. Coolant also has a very distinct smell. All fd's tend to smoke when cold so it could be normall.

These cars tend to smoke longer in cold weather, as for the heater try putting it on floor only, or floor and defrost with the reciculate button on and temp **** all the way up. I've found this to be the toastiest mode of operation. For some reason the front vents seem to blow cool air when set to this position. If you have an extended warranty I'd have them compression test the motor, and pressure test the cooling system to see that there ok.
