for the sake of your sanity, your bank account, and reliability ... get a daily driver. I drove mine daily the first year I had it. never let me down, but like mentioned above you will allways have the thought of "will I make it?" in the back of your head.

I often wonder if that's a perception that's induced by the misfortunes of improperly-cared for FD's (or if you're Exyom). I never think that while driving mine. Then again, I have towing insurance.

Indeed. I let that scare me until I actually bought and drove one. It's just a damn car. Other cars can leave you on the side of the road just the same, like my friends 200k honda. He had a spark plug BACK itself out and it misfired like a mofo.

Things happen to any car. Just because these motors don't last 200k doesn't mean they decide to shutoff and stop for no reason.

Even when the motor "go's"...it's not always something you can't manage to limp home...

It's really getting rediculous reading about how people are afraid of a damn car.

Phoenix, your car is basically stock, isn't it?

Modified ones break.....alot. Like i was saying in my post, mine is heavily modded.. i daily drove it anyway, didn't always know if it was gonna come home under its own power or not. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

and yes, i will be driving the tube chassis front end 20B on the street occasionaly...but not daily. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I basically tried to stay away from letting all of the horror stories dictate that I should worry about ever even owning one. Like Phoenix said, it's just a damn car. Sure you can piss in its face, but FDs may lean towards pissing back more often. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

True. Mine's near stock. But once modified, I'm going to do it in confidence and still drive it as often as I do in its current form. I know several bud's who've done the same and feel their car is MORE reliable despite the increase in power. They have less hoses to break, many were replaced in the process, same with fuel, cooling stuff (Fan mods etc)...

In fact, the confidence of me driving it is more a matter of me paying it off,...once it's fully mine, the worst that could happen is everything breaks and I take it off the road and have no payments on a broken car.

I've owned my FD for about 6 months and it is my daily driver. Not by choice though. I just bought a beater car to drive around in, but it doesn't start. After that is fixed that will be my daily driver. The FD is a great car, but gas milage sucks, there is no room in the car, and is too low and stiff, that I have to slow down for every bump in the road. And my wife has to take me to work if there is any snow on the ground, which doesn't make her happy. I wouldn't use the FD as a daily driver if I didn't have to, but it can be done.

Hasn't let me down yet.

I have a stock fd and drive in Monday -Friday. Driving it 5 days a week really stresses me out. The commute to school and back is only about 4-5 miles but this car was made for weekends. Like the guys have been saying if its near stock you'll most likey be fine, but still driving the car daily is a pain in the ass, and kinda of takes away the whole fun of driving the car sometimes.
