think of it like a door. if you swing the outside of the door from full open, 90 deg. for the sake of this explanation, to full close you will displace the far edge of the door probably about 3 feet depending on the size of the door. if you cut all of the door off but about 1 inch on the hinged edge you will acheive a 90 deg full open by displacing the door about 3 inches. make sense?

Yeah, but only if the door opens 90% and no one's doors open that far.

Yeah, jebus. I'm a dumbass. I just wanted the little circle of the % symbol. I was thinking car door, since we're talking about a car. Again, my dumbassness at work.

How many of you get the rattling noise that the Mazdatrix website reports? That's one of my main fears for getting a short shifter...they say if you go short, theres like a 1 in 12 risk it'll start rattling, and even if you go back to stock, it'll still rattle.

I am using th RE Amemiya unit. The throw is definitely shorter, not sure about the percentage, but not that much less than stock. The shifting is very smooth, smoother than the stock one which was there already. No rattles.

B&M

30% reduction in throw

Built VERY solid

Highly recommend

Agreed! Mine used to rattle a little, then I put a new nylon bushing in and that fixed it.
