I was just going to eliminate my AST (Air Seperation Tank) when I did my M2 large intercooler install but it turns out that my remanufactured engine has the one piece thermostat housing with the cap fitting cast into it so I can't bolt the necessary adapter for an AST elimation onto it.

Since I can't seem to find anyone willing to sell me an original two piece thermostat housing for cheap I'm going to have to relocate the AST.

I've seen pics of a few people who have done this but would love to know details on how anyone did it.

If you have any suggestions let me know!

Thanks,

John Magnuson

You can put that thing almost anywhere you want. Mount it upright though.

I've seen people move it all over the place with no ill affects. Course I could be wrong.

So it doesn't matter if it's at the original elevation or not?

I would try to keep it close, but I have seen them lower. I *think* the general idea is to keep it at the highest point in the system, being that air rises, and the AST is designed to remove air.

Someone correct me if I am wrong though.

yes keeping as close to stock height would be best, but something small like an inch lower would'nt hurt. Just don't bury it down like 4 inches
