i had a reckless, get a lawyer, "my speedo was off" wont pass.
im curious what ur plan is though with the bigger tires
He wants to change his tire size so that his speddometer is off, it seems, by about 30mph id guess. That way it looks like he was barely going 10mph over the limit.
However they'll probably take your license or something if you cant tell the difference from 65mph and 96mph.
Dont even bother with this plan, seriously get a lawyer, and hopefully youll get lucky. Playing dumb is a bad thing, cause they tend to try to keep the dumb oens off the road (note i said *try*)

^LOL, exactly my thoughts.
"But your honor.....really, I had no idea. No one was more surprised than I to find out I was almost doing 100 mph."
I don't mean to scare you, but in my state, RECKLESS DRIVING is a misdemeanor, meaning that unlike a traffic INFRACTION, the judge can give you jail time in addition to a fine. So getting bigger tires as an excuse isn't much of stragedy. As teknics and others suggested, your best bet is to get a lawyer. Depending on your driving history, he might be able to negotiate with the prosecutor and get it reduced, hopefully to "just" speeding. And who knows, maybe the Officer will come to court unprepared. Don't YOU make the same mistake.

i was caught doing 100mph in a 55mph and only got written up for 45+. i took it to court and plead no contest. got the points lowered to 2 and the speed lowered to 15+. so just go to court and plead no contest

You're lucky. I'm with Signal 2, in my state, you get a wreckless you might as well get a DUI (points and fees wise).

i know ion most states once your caught doubling the speed limit you get arrested on the spot and your car gets impounded, unless you get a nice cop.
Yep, in CO, the laws say they can arrest you and impound the car for 20mph+ above the posted speed limit.

FWIW, a "No Contest" plea is essentially a "Guilty" plea. It means that your neither agreeing with, or denying the charge. It has some implications if there's a possibility of a civil suit, like in an accident, but it's regarded by the court as GUILTY.

you guys are lucky, we get our car impounded and liscence taken off us for 6 months if we are 25mph over the speed limit.... but on the bright side we only have like 1 police helicopter(in the entire country) and the cops drive fords(v6) holdens(3.8 v6), and the occasional bmw motorbike...
