I recently got a reckless driving ticket doing 96 in a 55 and I want to get my speedometer calibrated. I Know that if I put bigger tires on my rear wheels it will affect the speed in my favor. However I want to know if this will damage my car in any way? (I am only putting them on long enough to do the test then I'm taking them off)

i dont think its gonna help you that much but whatever. there is also a section in the fsm that will say what margin of error the speedo can have and still be ok. i know the fb says it can be off like 9 or 10 mph and still be ok.

Do you know if putting different sized tires on the back will damage my car though?

it wont damage your car unless they rub on the fenders or brakes or something

By calibrating it in your favor, what do you mean...you can go faster than the speedometer will go? If so, how will that help if you get caught with a radar gun. I'm just curious.

So is your speedo off 41mph or something?

Shane.Trammell 09-27-2005 03:52 PM

i think the point is to prove that it was off far enough to not get the reckless driving charge

Anything is worth a try, I'm sure it'll be expensive. However, that's a lot of miles to try and shave. Good luck, but seems like it takes a MIRACLE to get ANYTHING overturned in traffic court. I know from experience https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

If you're worried about the ticket, get a lawyer. Worked for my 3 careless and wreckless tickets.

Yep, I probably wouldn't go w/o an atty if it were to happen to me again!
