what would be the most difficult thing in making a non-r1/r2 into a r1/r2? second oil cooler? brake ducts? i don't suppose that info is associated with a car's vin # in the same way you can find out about recalls performed?

thanx

the second oil cooler might be the only true thing that you can do to the car to make it closer to an r1, assuming that you have a touring model..the sunroof really cant be eliminated, you cna add the wing and the front lip, and the seats, and shave the rear wiper if you so desired, but the sunroof will always make it a touring model......

thanx for the replies. i guess my question is this: if you think you are buying an r1 and it's got the lip,

spoiler, front strut tower brace, and 2 oil coolers, can you then be pretty sure it is indeed an r1 (no wiper,

no sunroof..do base's have sunroofs)?

You can always check the shocks, see if they're bilsteins. Also, make sure the car doesn't have Cruise Control.

yea suspension would be a bit rough.. no cruise control, ALWAYS 5SPD, spoiler, lip, strut bar, oil cooler, no wiper, no sunroof.

The shocks weren't bilsteins. I don't remember exactly, but I think they were made by a japanese company called showa.
