Hi Guys,

Hoping someone migt have an answer to this. Recently had someone do the poor mans non seq conversion. have a full exhaust, profec b spec2, intake and fm cooler. The car has no boost under 3000rpm and at 3 it starts to climb. Is this normal for the NS setup?

It doesn't feel like any lag though. It feels restricted and like a switch at 3k it climbs. Would this have something to do with the charge control valve?

I'll be grateful for any suggestions.

Sounds like the valve is stuck wide open. I bet once the boost climbs it jumps up doesn't it

Thats how it feels. 0 - 3000rpm I get 0 - 1.5 psi then from 3000 to 4500 it climbs to 12psi. Isn't the valve supposed to stay open though?

Guess I should pull off the pipe and find out

No, normally a vacuum actuated valve opens it at about 3500 I believe? Having that wide open isn't allowing the primary turbo to spool but the secondary is spoiling up faster and has higher pressure

on an NS car.. the valves are removed, if done properly (ie, not the poorman's mod) Boost should start building around 2500-3500, depending on what mods you have on the car and gradually build to whatever your Wg is set up for. Take the turbos off and go ahead and do the real mod on it, it'll work ALOT better, AND you need to port the wastegate for it to be able to control boost properly.

Do you have the instructions for doing the real mod to it? It was 10 years ago when i did mine so i don't completely remember all the details on it but i can find my printouts on it if you need them.

Oh right LOL.

Hope you got it sorted. This is actually my first RE car so I'm learning something new everyday. Luckily, I know where to turn to for help when I need it.
