OR.... if that ends up kicking your *** (like it does mine most of the time). remove the bottom access plate on the bellhousing, and remove the 6 bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel. It's a lil time consuming, but it works if the release collar pisses you off enough, and you don't damage the collar this way either.

For releasing the wedge collar, I just take off the plate on the bottom of the bell housing, get some light up there, and pull it back with a long flathead screwdriver. With some light, it really isn't hard.
For getting the collar to hook back up, I take a big screwdriver, stick it into the hole where the slave cylinder goes, and press on the fork really hard. Then, look up through the bottom hole, and see if it's connected.
