If you are having the squeaking sounds then you need to lubricate it. I had mine replaced and the guy said it needs to be lubed up sometimes. It makes it last longer. I don't know a price of a new one because he replaced it the day i bought my FD.

I unhooked mine because it was pissing me off with that noise when it retracts. Just pull the plug out and leave it like that. Radio works the same and everything else.
I would have done that (Back when the FD actually RAN!) But I reallized that the radio in my car has only ONE antenna jack. I guess I could hook up the plug for the other one to the radio and see if it works... but I'm more concerned about getting this **** running again!

But, if it's stuck in the up position, instead of down--is there an easy way to get it back down?

I don't know if I should venture my FC nose up in your FD business, but I replaced mine with one I got from Best Buy, a universal kind. I'm not sure how different the FD antenna is from the FC one, but the universal one was pretty much exactly like my antenna. Unless someone had already had it replaced once before...hhmmm....Anyways, it was like $50, and we just had to drill a hole slightly larger (on the mounting bracket or something...it's been awile) to make it fit perfect. But it goes up when the car is turned to on, and I have to wait for it to go down before I can turn the key all the way off .

oh...and I'm not supposed to lube it, and if it loses power in the up position, the package said I can just push it down without damage.

You can force it down... But be careful. Does it TRY to go down? Like can you hear the motor, or is it fully dead?

Beyond fully dead. The last segment slides freely, although the others are stiff, and you'll notice how everyone else still gets good radio reception without it? I don't even get radio reception. None. Pure static on every channel.

Do you still retain the stock radio?

Look behind the radio. You can access the wires thru the passenger side kickpanel (not the ECU side but the other... You should be able to find 2 (TWO) antenna connectors. THe one hooked up is obviously the antenna that's dead) try switching them..

w00t! So the stock radio hooks up to both at once but the one in there now isn't so versatile, thanks Now, if only I could get my window up so my working radio doesn't get stolen...
