Pfs Box And Bigger Secondaries
#41
Some people have had problems with the walbro when it is wired in the switching mode. It doesn't like the voltage changing back and forth so it dies. Plus its not putting out the same flow at 7volts or whatever it runs at before it switches over.
I see it like this...If its happy with constant voltage, as easy as it is to feed it constant, then I'd do it. It *may* save a motor one day.

The first thing that pops into my head is -
How did you run NS with the Purple box?
Second, I am also running Walbro Hi-flow pump. And I never boost that hard under 3/4-tank on the gauge. One of my biggest concerns is fuel starvation, and I try doing what I can to make it easy for the pump to do its job. Maybe it's a lie to say I 'don't get spikes'.. My spikes on the 15PSI setting are 15.4-15.6 PSI.
Now you've got me interested in converting to NS.. Time for a new thread!

I was running with a walbro at the time as well.
Why did you think non-sequential was not possible with a purple box?

Well, because it is strongly recommended against in the instructions to operate the purple box with NS/single setups.
Keep the boost under 15psi with non-sequential twins and that becomes a moot point. Kinda funny to that my car was tuned for non sequential by PFS themselves.

Again forum speculation. The purple did rick potters car from the one lap on a single turbo and he did o.k.

The purple is a great unit. I just got one in case I get a FD again

That brings us to the 2001 PFS One Lap of America Single-Turbo Project Car. Building an almighty, snap-your-neck single-turbo car is not too difficult. However, building one that will compete successfully on a variety of tracks while retaining normal drivability and comfort for thousands of miles on the public roads is a bit more of a challenge. Building one that will be reliable under a variety of uses and happy on whatever fuel is available is harder still. Peter recommended using a Garrett-based PFS hybrid turbocharger kit, since it would have better response under road-race conditions than the larger T78. This allowed a very achievable and reliable 15 psi boost that would be happy with readily-available pump fuel, while giving us 488 hp for dealing with our competitor's upgrades. With engine management from Electromotive, the project has met all of its goals for drivability, reliability and bushels of horsepower
