My friend just got a 93 RX7 that has a petitt racing ecu, petitt racing rebuilt engine, straight pipe, no p/s, no air pump, no nothing pretty much. she was having problems with the car, so i fixed the spark plugs/wires and redid her radio and the car starts up fine now. but her car just smokes and idle hunts. it smokes on start up (normal since no cats) and it'll go away sometimes. it doesn't smoke over 4,000 rpms. compression is great. starts up every time without any troubles. when it idle hunts i can pull back on the gas pedal and it'll steady itself out, but never at a specific spot (sometimes idles at 1300rpms, sometimes at 700rpms). i've tried fixing the cable itself, but it doesn't seem to be related to the problem at all.

if you guys can help me out it might help me get laid!! i heard somebody say that if i squirt ATF fluid in through the spark plugs and let the engine run for a while like that it'll help the smoking. is it true?

Your chick friend bought an FD with no cats, p/s, a/c, etc? That's ******' badass :bigok: . You could try adjusting the idle screw located back by the throttle body. She might have some kind of a vacuum leak, too. Is she still running stock turbos? are the vacuum hoses all the stock rubber material? how many miles on the chassis and motor?

I agree with the vacum leak theory the most. It may just be an idle screw adjustment. The car may be set too rich. I know the pettit ecu is set a bit on the rich side. When I add 2% to much fuel in on my PMC I get that **** idle.

I am more interested in this girl you know. Whats up with that you lucky pig

Smoke= Black? Blue? White?

My car smokes at idle, but never if I touch the gas.

Well my smoke is a mixed of blue and black, mostly

black. My mech said he ported my oil ports too, anyone

else do that?

I realize you said to 4rpms and you didnt mention any

break-up, so im sure its black, so im sure its rich and

like everyone said, vaccum is a good bet.. Vacuum

can fubar your fuel and idle..

Hunting idle=TPS adjustment most likely. Vacuum leaks on a FD will raise the idle in my experience but not make it hunt.

It has 100k on the chassis, stock turbos, and the vacuum lines were already redone. the motor is brand new though. she just got it back from wherever she sent it to. i noticed they took out a whole shitload of vaccuum hoses and sensors. its a greyish type of smoke. i think i'll try the atf thing and see if that works/helps out. i'll let you guys know. also, i'm gonna repaint my fc3s and turn it into a SOLOII RaceCar. what color should i paint it? i'm thinking orange!
