I have my rev limiter set to 12,000 rpms. I shift at 9000.

Stock rev limiter is 8000rpm. You will hear the buzzer once it reaches 7500RPM as it is giving you a "buzzer warning" to shift. Rotaries, unlike piston engines are a lot harder to over rev.

I shift anywhere from 8000-9000RPM.

12A race cars are known to rev to 11000RPM...

Does hit hurt the engine if for say you are doing a burn out and just let it bounce off the rev limiter?

Problem with that is even though it's a Rev limiter, what's the limiting factor...fuel or ignition.

If it's ignition then it's just mixing air/fuel and causing the engine to run rich.

If it's fuel, then it cuts fuel for a split second...and your engine goes stupid lean.

Be careful with the rev-limiter.

Better to set the rev limiter high and pay attention to the shift lite/rpms vs. bounce off of it and blow the engine because the rev-limiter cut fuel to the engine.

Over rev the engine...your NOT going to hurt ****. I have an '88 N/A FC...I rev that bitch to 8.5k all the time...with 250,000 miles on her.

I rev my FD to 9.5 sometimes... but generally shift at 9k.

Trust me...it does NOT hurt the engine. I think the limiting factor is not the engine at all, but the tranny.

On my old eng I rev to 9k also, as long as you don't go too lean

I push my Gen 1 pretty hard, specially when doing burn-outs. I usually try to keep it around 5500 to 6500 in second. When racing I push it to 8500-9000 in each gear.

Technically you can not over rev a rotary because nothing is working against cyntrifical force. On a piston engine you can over rev because the pistons are not on the same theory. Thats obvious. I agree that there is not "really" a red line for the engine but for the transmission.

Rotary engines love to be pushed hard, many people rev to 11k plus and don't have problems. The main thing stopping everyone from doing this is apex seal "float" which is when the centrifical force is strong enough to push the apex seals up and out of their grooves, which of course is a bad thing.

Hey I Race ss Carmaro about a week ago and we were already doing 80-90,I was in 4th already and then deceide to slam it to 3rd to see what will happen and the buzzer came on and the tach pin above 9000 and nothing happen to car but if I recall correct I had to switch back to 4th casue the car won't go any faster in 3rd,cause it's pinnin at the redline. Also I always redline my car I have done all with the 1st gen and never blow an engine.
