Oil Smells Like Gas

Any one ever take off their oil cap and smell it ? mine smells like fuel... is that normal? Also there was some foamy white **** in there.

yeah smelling like gas is normal. the gas and oil get a little mixed up

so there is fuel in the oil?.... is that what causes the foam?.....also I use to use 20w50 in the car but rotorsports racing told me to use 10w40 ....what does everyone else use?

yeah after a while you get some gas in the oil. just change the oil atleast every 3k miles. i don't know what causes the foam but every car does it. maybe condensation in the oil system ? i run 20w50 castrol GTX

it probably happens more often if you run rich, and from what I understand it's more common on the turbo cars. The fuel is getting into the oil system via the oil seals on the rotors.

Great I was about to get pissed I just got the car back from the shop! ok I have 1 person who uses 20 50 anyone else care to weigh in?

Common on rx7s and caused by blowby. If its really bad you'll actually see your oil level increase as gas is added to it. I heard 10w40 is bad because it needs too many viscosity modifiers added to it or something. I use mobil1 15w50. I wouldn't go thinner on a modded, high hp car.
