Running no oil is a real quick way to kill bearings inside a turbo. Hope your turbo is okay too.

Well this sucks. I've got mine installed. I put a new oil filter on and haven't changed the oil since. I hope mine doesn't come apart like yours. It seems like it is just a bad design all together. The threaded piece that holds the oil filter should not be pressed in, it should be welded to the base in my opinion.

Wasn't this number 2 for you??? I'm not feeling to good about mine being on my car...

What was the pedestal used for again? My greddy unit hooked to the stock pedestal so I could read oil temperature/pressure.

This is my second one...the first one I had I screwed the temp sensor in to far and it knocked the post sideways. This time I used a spacer which as you can see the temp sensor comes no where near the center post.

Jspec- The pedistal is pretty much the same thing as the Greddy one, except the greddy one sits on top of the stock pedistal...and this peices replaces the stock pedistal and has the threaded holes for sensors.

I ran my car for about a half hour today and it seemed to run okay, the turbo seems fine as well. I guess only time will tell. The only problem is oil got into the bell housing and is now flinging oil onto the wrapped DP, which in turn is smoking A LOT. There is still oil everywhere too.

The threads that the oil filter tightens onto actually threads into the base, it isn't pressed in. After it is threaded in they put some loc-tite on it as well so it wouldn't go anywhere.

I just find it hard to believe that you got 2 bad pieces. I think that is a problem with the whole batch, no one is that unlucky. I understand that the first one was because of the probe but still it should have held better than that...

It's pressed in? WTF? I would throw that thing into the garbage asap. FDs run really high oil pressure. Much higher than any other car i'ver ever seen. 110 psi right?

I have the speedmachine one aka fc3s.org one for the FC. It is billet machined, not pressed or welded. Same goes for the stock peice. It's cast then machined I believe.

Get rid of it now before you have another mishap. Just eat the money. I've been ripped off before, and I'm sure I will still be ripped off in the future.

After conversing with the manufacturer of the oil filter pedestals he forwarded me this statement:

As a continued effort to supply the best products possible we would like to offer an upgrade to an existing product you have purchased. This upgrade involves the permanent attachment of the filter thread and/or the banjo fitting on the replacement oil pedestal you purchased. This is a voluntary upgrade that will be performed free of charge for you our customer. A singular report of failure on the filter thread post was brought to our attention. We are unclear of all the circumstances related to this failure, but this upgrade is how all future pedestals will be manufactured. You may at your discretion and piece of mind remove the part and ship it back to us for update.

If you desire to take part in this free upgrade; package your oil filter pedestal and address the package as the following:

MRC Manufacturing

ATTN: Daniel Eichner

465 Maltbie Street, Suite 215

Lawrenceville, Georgia 30045

So all who desire to take part in this upgrade can be informed an email with the above statement will be sent to each of your email addresses.

How long is this option available? It was a major PITA to get the thing installed with the motor in. I'd like to have mine updated but it'll take a lot to get it off and then back on again. I'd rather wait a while and see if I've got my car apart for some other reason first if that is an option.

hahaha, I've got it down to 10 minutes...but you need new crush washers.

Dan, you should be receiving the pedistal in the next few days. If you'd like I can ship it with the sensor in place, so you can see how far from the threads it is.

This is going to be open, so there is no rush if you would like to take part.

Dan I can see from the picture that the pressure gauge did not make contact, which the spacer would not have even been required since they are not as long as a temperature probe. Please send the pedestal to address above so the manufacturer can inspect the pedestal.
