For no apparent reason I see an oil leak in the area where my transmission meets the motor. I am not sure if this is a job for a specialty shop, just the dealer, or maybe even a transmission shop. I do not have means to work under my car so if anyone has had this problem I would love a suggestion or two.

I have about 2000 miles on a new motor, could the install of this caused a problem?

No other pproblems since everything was replaced in early 2003 at PFS

If it's between the motor and tranny then it sounds like it's the rear main seal. To replace you have to drop the tranny. It is oil and not gear oil from the tranny correct? Either way you'd have to drop the tranny to fix the seal.

*IF* you can find somewhere that you can work under the car...it's an afternoon/weekend job. Good time to replace your engine and tranny oil while you're at it.

The only good thing about this whole thing is that the seal you need is only 20 something bucks...A couple years ago I had RP replace mine and parts were something like 22.
