Anytime I want to fix the oil pan...I pull the engine. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

I had to pull the cxm down... the oil pan slid right out ofter repositioning the jack holding the tranny.
Today I will do the E shaft bolt and still trying to find a way to lock it in place. ideas on how to do this? thanks |
I put everything back last night, the car started right up.
did not notice any leak, (praying) no whinning noise off the front pulley thanks to helihansen for the help! Now I just have to figure out why it is smoking too much white smoke, does not smell like coolant or oil. Idle is high @ 1500 and staying there even after I adjusted the jack screw from the throtle body. more troubleshooting I guess. |
Be EXTREMELY careful when pulling the front cover. If the rear needle bearing falls, good luck getting back on...basically, it'll be easier to pull the engine than to **** with it for hours on end.
Here's a LINK to what may happen. If you can isolate the problem to the oil pan, then fix that ONLY and DO NOT mess with the front cover. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif |
Jspec, I don't have any more oil leak but the car smokes a lot.
the car starts no problem but as the car warms up it starts smoking, A LOT! it holds idle but as I try to move and rev the car, the car almost stalls as the revs go down. I'm thinking it is my o ring.....coz as I was trying to burp the system and reving the engine I saw champane like bubbles....plus I've added like 4 liters of coolant mix. |

another question? could I jack up the engine by placing a jack under the tranny with out taking the bolts off of PPF? also keep in mind I'm doing this while the engine is still in the car. So how do I attach a bar in that small access area underneath the clutch/flywheel? thanks guys! what is the answer to this? best way to hold the engine still while removing the pulley bolt? is the objective not to move the e-shaft forward or back (end float??) while pulling the pullet off?...or don't let it move side - side...and wedging the wood between the pressure plate and bellhousing and keeping the peddle down what exactly does this do? keep the eshaft from turning..i don't understand the purpose here |

still need some help on how to safely remove the main pulley bolt
|
to safely remove the front pulley bolt the best way would be to find a way to keep the clutch pedal pushed in (2x4 against the pedal and wedged up to the seat). That is how I did it on my 1st gen and it worked perfect, no whining or leaking.

If you depress the clutch the engine will spin. I'm guessing you are having hard time taking the bolt off?? When you impact it, are you spinning the engine?? If so, I say its better to keep it in gear and hope it will stop from spinning the engine. Few engines I had, I had to use a flywheel stopper to take the bolt off... otherwise, engine kept on spinning. Also, Make sure to put something on your wheels so that it doesn't jump, just in case:)
