From what I have been told over the years is that because the combustion process in a rotarty engine is different to that of a piston motor, the synthetic oil fails to burn completely leaving deposits ( ash maybe ?? ) on the housings leading to premature seal wear.

That's what mazda originally thought about synthetic oil(without the proper research). Now mazda has recinded that memo and replaced it with memo 13B(lol...j/k) saying that synthetic oil is ok with our cars.

Damn I wish oil was $7.99 here haha retail for a 4 liter capacity here is about $100 for an oil change with some decent oil, not even the best. OUCH! thats with a filter of course haha

I use K&N oil filters and about 5 quarts of Mobil one synth and it costs me about $35
