i'm thinking you may have a clogged cat ....... a cold air intake isn't gonna affect this at all. Have your cats checked, replaced or removed and i'll guarantee that you notice a difference.

ITs very normal..

First you have to tell us how big your garage is.. if its a single car garage, it will take less time to heat up the area.. Also, how hot was the outside temp??

You are talking about a stock 7 with stock pre and main cat still attatched to the car. It will take hours for them to come to room temp. During that time, the heat from the cats and the engine will heat up the air.. Its very normal.. especially summer when outside temp is warm and especially when your garage is not temp controlled.

Shortly after I bought my FD I got sick and had fever and got the damn chills. I didn't feel like driving the car but I'll tell you one thing, going out in the garage and starting an RX-7 when you have the chills will warm you up real quick. I sat in the garage for 30 minutes letting the heat from stock twins warm me up from my fever. True story.

I had my car thoroughly checked out before I got it and it came back with a clean bill of health. It's been pretty much sitting in my garage for a couple of months because it wasn't registered or insured.

But anyway, today was the first day that I really put some miles on it. When I got home, I pulled into the garage, parked, walked inside. About 35-40 minutes later I walk into my garage and just feel the heat radiating off of my car. I opened the hood and when I went to prop it up with that rod thingy, I couldn't hold onto it long enough without burning myself to get it into place.

The temp gauge never went past that normal spot where it just sticks... but this kind of has me worried. I managed to get the hood open and came back a little while later and it heated up my whole somewhat large sized 2 car garage a good deal. I know these cars and turbo cars in general can run quite hot, but I mean god damn, it's an almost stock FD. Can't say I like feeling the heat coming inside the car through the center console either. :-\

Anyway, please tell me this is normal. :-\

It's "normal" since you still have the pre-cat. I had the same situation until I got my downpipe. Prior to this, I could actually feel the heat when I hover my hand over my hood. Do keep in mind that I have the stock "heat" blanket, too. After getting the DP, all of that was gone. In other words, get a downpipe.
