non stndard clutch release
#1
Hello guys,
im in the process of putting a new engine in my rx7, stripped most of the junk out the way today and went to force apart the release collar and have found a double or tripple plate clutch in there.
i bought the car last year, it has had a lot of tweekin but i have no history sice the car was bought at auction in japan, so i have no idea what make of clutch this is.
the slave cylinder has also been changed, it has a conversion block (looks like its been moved back)
the question is how do i release it ?? i cant see the release collar at all, i've not changed a FD engine before ( is it obvious )
what would you recommend guys ?
was on my own today so had no one to press the clutch, was gonna see if i could see anything as it moved, maybe tomorrow, but any help would be greatly appricated.

I'm pretty sure most multi disc setups for FD utilize a pull style to push style converter
maybe thats why youre confused cuz your clutch setup isnt like a normal fd! (which is pull style)....you should post pics...if its been converted to a push style i dont think their would be a release collar (thats how 2nd gens are so thats all im going by...2nd gens are push style...) so maybe thats why you dont see one cuz it might not be there... post some pics of your setup ,COOL! nothing like getting an unexpected bonus 2500 clutch setup in your car you didnt know about

Well doen rotary Villan , you got that spot on, finally got it out today, cant belive i didnt suss that, too much booze the night before i think
my god, getting the downpipe off was a pain, noot looking forward to the re-fit
turns out its an OS Giken twin plate clutch and OS Giken flywheel, and yes its a push type, the conversion is very good , first i've seen but very good qaulity.
a definate bonus, the car is full of them, found that the ecu is a night sports 4beat "hyper sports rom" the names they give these things
