3rd gen broken hood latch release
Greetings - new to forum - 1st post & all... I need help w/ my '94 RX7... Went out yesterday, pulled the hood latch release, and voila! -- nothing! The hood won't pop open. The release pulls a little easier than normal, but I still hear noise / movement at the hood latch area. Adding / varying downward pressure on hood while pulling the release does nothing as well. Help! How do I get this thing open without ripping apart the nose?
Any help would be much appreciated!

If you're still hearing movement from the nose it could just be that one of the springs is broken. Maybe trying pulling the release while adding a *small* amound of upward pressure via a screwdriver/crowbar? Otherwise only thing I can suggest is to find someone else in your area with a 3rd gen and ask to look at their release mechanism, because it is impossible to describe how it works without looking at it yourself. I have added an emergency hood latch pull just in case this happens to me.
I have heard of several people with broken hood latches. There is a plastic peice at the end of the cable that gets brital with age and breaks. I would put a safty releas in now before you have to deal with it. Here is a picture of mine. It takes 2 minutes if the bumper is off.

All I did was run some safty wire across the front, went through a zip tie loop at the end of the bumper and wraped it around the tow hook. Very simple and works great.
