When you say new do you mean straight from Mazda? I think Malloy makes rebuilt motors. If you want a rebuilt one they run about 2400 and up provided you send them a core. You can rebuild it yourself for around 1k if you know how. BUt if you are a heavy spender a brand new complete with "bling" will run you about 7k. They aren't cheap. GoodLuck!

i'm not looking for a brand new engine, i should have said a rebuilt one, i just want a rebuild with a nice street port. any ideas on how much that would cost if i were to take the engine out myself and send it somewhere to get ported?

On average I have noticed the price of a streetport is about $300 more. Check some of our sponsers I know some of them offer the engines at very good prices!

I would suggest buying a reman from Malloy.

They sell alot of engines so alot of their engines have all new parts.

The are mazda remanufactured. I went there for all my engine parts. Ray there seems to be a pretty stright shooter.

He as a a 3rd gen also, anyway...

I think it was $1,800 for the short block with a $800 core charge.
