My setup is gonna be 2x 6al's and 1x DIS2 with 4 blaster coils, probably

It won't work, because the leading and trailing fire too close together and it doesn't have time to recharge.
You have to use 3 X 6A or 1 X 6A + 1 X DIS-2 (with stock coils)
With 4 aftermarket coils you can do 2 X 6A + 1 X DIS-2
If your ECU can do full sequential ignition you can do 2 X DIS-2 with 4 aftermarket coils.

OK. That may be why it won't work. If you look at the schematic, it would be able to hook up and run, but you may run it out of juice at high RPM. Might be worth a call to Autotronic to see what they can do. They worked over a MSD 6al for me, so they might be able to tune the cap value to allow it to charge faster.
DIS-4
Not sure about how reliable the HI-6 is on a rotory, but I've been running one since they came out (7 years?) on an older 4 cyl car. Works great, and the dial in RPM cut is nice. Not sure how the HI-6S is.
BTW - if you can find a fried MSD 6al box cheap, buy it. It only costs like $30 MAX to have it rebuilt and shipped back to you from Autotronics.

I've heard of people just using one crane or msd unit to power the leading coil, since the trailing aren't as important. Also instead of getting 2 or 3 different ignition boxes, it would probably be better to just get an HKS twin power. What is the difference between the 6a and 6al?

I'm running the HKS Twinpower with cosmo 13B trailing coils and a aftermarket coil made for a hachi-roku. I'm at the point where my leading plugs are burning REALLY good(starting to round out the electrode). I think it's due more to the coils than to the twinpower though.

go to www.msdignition.com then go to the forums and then car specific
there was someone who asked about a 3rd gen that was answered by a tech, I also started a thread about just running a box on the leading. they recommended digital both times. I can forward emails that I exchanged with them if you'd like.
