my impressions... the tranny brace is annoying because i now hear all kinds of internal tranny noises that arent noticeable without the brace.
How much for the tranny brace? I'm looking to buy one since the car is stripped down internally, no a/c or p/s and will get more of the "race car" treatment here soon.

i run solid mounts that i made from aluminum, my car also has a solid tranny brace that attaches the tranny to the chassis (not just PPF), and a HPI engine torque brace w/dampner.

the torque brace didn't add any extra noise or vibration, and is by far the best motor stifining/holding in place mod

the solid mounts on the motor were just plain a bad idea. they give the car soo much vibration that i dont even enjoy driving it anymore. i thought about going with hockey pucks, but from past experience with them (5 yrs ago on a 13BT BMW) i noticed that they litterally turn to moosh after oil and gasoline soak into them. 3rd gens, and my car in particular like to leak oil, so the hockey puck thing would only be temporary.

i think i'm gonna go polyurethane on the drivers side (the side that always breaks) and stock on the passanger side. this, allong with the tranny brace and torque brace should keep the motor and PPF where they belong.

now..... who has a kazz rear for sale??
Thank you for the honest first hand impressions on this subject! After reading this I see fear of solids mounts is a reality. I will go with the polyurethane ones when the time comes.

This is a great thread !!! Thanks all, Tom

i got the tranny brace from a guy on the other forum. he was in japan for the auto salon and picked one up for me from some shop down there.

the brace is nothing too fance, it can easily be made by someone with welding skills.

the guys name is davis (A SPEC) on the other forum. i paid $300 for the HPI torque brace and tranny brace, including shipping.

i need to get some pics of the stuff to show you guys, but i need a diggi cam.

The Polyurethan mounts sound like a good comprimise. Any one have the pricing of these? Do you have to buy both, only one of my mounts needs replacing.
mine was the one, down the street, paul ko's was the white fc with black wheels in the vendor area

Urethane mounts by rotorsports. They were cheap.. They sent me a pair they had and i just sent my old one back.. they refunded the core charg so total amount was only a couple of hundred.. for got the exact amount but much ceaper than other mounts out there.. and virbration is minmul.. it was worst with the stock mounts.. (one was bad) I like em.. very smooth

I agree w/ Speed NYC.

Solid Engine mounts will basically transmit ALL engine vibrations throughout the entire car. Every bolt, interior panel, the glass,...everything. Similiar to the effect of a car running on solid wheels (no rubber). Assuming that you installed solid engine mounts, you will hear more creaking and road noise down the line. For a street car...not advisable. For a track only car...not a problem. Think of your car as a large tuning fork at this point.

I have yet to find a solution that I totally like.

Standard or hardened rubber. Will crack and wear over time. Deflection is a problem in the long run. Not an issue IF you change them often.

Polyurethane. Stiffer than standard rubber. Not necessarily stiffer than hardened rubber. Deflection is not as large of a problem compared to rubber.

I wonder what the professional dragsters use?
