More bad luck with the oil pedestals...

Okay so the other thread explained why we sent these things back. Well I didn't have any problems yet but to be on the safe side I sent mine back. After getting it back from the update, I'm wishing I'd have never sent mine in. I don't think it is going to seal off at all.
Check out this area in red:
Before I sent it in it was not welded around that area and there was enough material to seal off properly. I just don't have much faith that it is going to work now. Also it was nice and polished before too. Now look at it:
So pretty much I wasted my cost to ship it back and wasted the cost of buying it in the first place. I'm going to e-mail eyecandy to see if he'll send me a polished replacement that has more material around the area in the first picture. Who knows... I just don't want to be out anymore money on a useless part...

Heath, Mine looks exactly like your!!!
I also am not happy with the pedestal. They did a shitty job welding it and I'm afraid to put it back on. If that small piece of metal breaks and something happens to the O ring, my engine isn't going to be happy

I received my "repaired" pedestal today. Let's just say that I want a full refund. I emailed Daniel, and am waiting for a reply.

Yeah I pm'd him and asked for a corrected and polished replacement or a refund plus my shipping expenses I incurred for this update.

Those welds look real good. The 1st picture may be a concern, but just as long as the oil o-ring is there, it should be fine. Just put it on and start the car. If it leaks oil out of there you'll know right away and still will not hurt the motor. It'll just get wet but should not spray.

i agree with Jspec. I would use it, as long as it doesn't leak on start up... it's probably not going to. As far as cosmetics... <shrug> it would take about 30 seconds to polish out the welding discolorment.

I might have been willing to try it if I thought it would seal off. The fact is you can rub your finger over the area circled in red above and it has a dip area. The only thing that would seal it off would be the o-ring. I'm just not comfortable with trying it when all I have to rely on is the o-ring. I have no leaks and I don't want to start having one this way.
Also if I put it on and for some act of god it didn't leak, I'd still have to pull it back off and send it out to be re-polished. I think Scrub had the right idea from the start.
