Miles To The Tank
100% interstate from Dallas to Florida I got 26mpg and filled 15.1 gallons (didn't want to go much below 1/4 tank) so you could concievably be getting about 500+ miles on an entire tank if your car gets great mileage like mine on the interstate.
Quick question- when the needle hits empty, how many gallons are left?
I fill before that, but i just saw a picture of a JDM guage cluster and it was listed as liters (i believe) and said 70 (full) and 5 (empty)
So is E not empty?
Ben

I have went reeally low on my tank before and past E. When it go really low a little light turned on below the gauge. So I think tfat is when you definately need to get to a gas station. I made it to one thank you to the rotary gods. So I guess E is no qutie empty but it is close. Watch out for the little orange light to turn on below the gauge. Has anyone else seen this??
No OEM ever makes "E" truly empty. You get just a little reserve - some manufacturers give you more than others. They also vary with respect to when the warning light comes on. Case in point - I tested a new Dodge Ram and got an additional 90 miles (cruising at 70mph, a/c on) before I ran out of gas.
edit: after the warning light came on that is ... I don't remember how much further I went after the needle hit "E".
